1. Safety Instructions

Before installing the appliance, read the following safety instructions:

  • Note all cautions and warnings on the equipment or in the manuals.
  • As most electronic components are sensitive to electrostatic discharge, ground yourself at all times when installing or servicing internal components of the appliance. Use a grounding wrist strap and place removed electronic components in static-shielded containers.
  • Turn off the power and disconnect power cords from the appliance before performing any installation or servicing. A sudden surge of power could damage sensitive electronic components.
  • Place the appliance on a stable surface when installing or servicing parts. Dropping the appliance could cause breakage or injury.
  • Do not operate the appliance in high humidity.
  • Make sure that the rack with the mounted appliance is evenly loaded and stable.
  • Do not operate the appliace at ambient temperatures over 35 degress Celsius.
  • Do not cover openings on appliance’s enclosure. They are required for air convection and protect the appliance from overheating.
  • Do not pour liquid into ventilation openings. This may cause fire or electrical shock.
  • Ground the appliance before use. Pay special attention when supplying power via means other than single cords, e.g., power strips.
  • Put the power cord out of the way so no one steps on it. Do not place anything on the power cord. The power cord must be rated for higher voltage and current than marked on appliance’s electrical ratings label.
  • If the appliance is not used for long periods of time, disconnect it from the mains to avoid damage from transient overvoltage.
  • Only let qualified service personnel work on the appliance in situations including but not limited to the following: - The power cord or plug is damaged. - Liquid is inside the equipment. - The appliance has been operated in high humidity. - The appliance does not work correctly. - The appliance has been damaged.
  • Disconnect the appliance from the mains before cleaning. Do not use cleaning liquid or detergent. Clean the appliance with a moist piece of cloth.
  • Empty module and drive bays have dummy covers installed.
