3.4. Managing Storage Policies

A storage policy in Virtuozzo Infrastructure Platform is a group of parameters that define how to store compute volumes and their snapshots: how redundant they must be and on what tier they need to be located.

To create a storage policy, do the following:

  1. On the COMPUTE > STORAGE POLICIES tab, click Add storage policy.

  2. In the Add storage policy window, specify a name and select the following from the drop-down lists:

    1. In Tier, a tier to store volumes on. For information about storage tiers, consult Understanding Storage Tiers in the Virtuozzo Infrastructure Platform Installation Guide.
    2. In Failure domain, a placement policy for data pieces or replicas. For more details, see Understanding Failure Domains in the Virtuozzo Infrastructure Platform Installation Guide.
  3. Select a data redundancy type and mode:

    • Erasure coding and its specific mode, or
    • Replication and the number of replicas.

For more details, see Understanding Data Redundancy in the Virtuozzo Infrastructure Platform Installation Guide.

  4. Click Add.

To edit a policy, select it and click a pencil icon next to a parameter you need to change. After a policy is edited, the changes are applied to every volume and snapshot that are governed by it.

To remove a policy, select it and click Delete. A policy cannot be removed if it governs existing volumes and snapshots.
